Hi Guys,
Do you remember a recent post when I told you about injuring my ankle in Toronto?

Well, guess what? I injured my ankle again this week. Although it wasn’t as bad as the Toronto incident, it was still pretty painful.
Here’s what happened: I was at work, rushing around as usual, when I slipped on an ice cube. I didn’t fall, but my ankle twisted all the way to the left. Since Monday, it has been swollen and feels mushy. The worst pain was feeling like someone was carving a pumpkin in my leg the entire week and that was a key sign that something was wrong because I had that the last time as well.
I initially made an appointment at the clinic, but work was too chaotic for me to leave. Instead, I called my family doctor during my break, and she agreed to see me the next day at her other clinic. Despite the injury, I ended up working 10-12 hour shifts all week, exhausted but still managing to get through it. Each night, my ankle would swell up, so I used cold water therapy in the pool, ice, and other supplies to manage the swelling.
Yesterday, I went to the emergency clinic where my doctor also works. I was there for four hours, and the wait-time didn’t bother me as much as the lack of cell reception, which left me quite bored.
When I finally saw the nurse, he triaged me, and I explained my ankle injury. Later, my doctor examined me and sent me for X-rays. Thankfully, there was no break, but she confirmed a tear in my ligaments and fibers due to the swelling. I asked if an ultrasound was necessary, but she said it wasn’t needed right now. If necessary, she would refer me for one in a few weeks. Since this is the second time I’ve sprained my ankle and it’s been hurting for two years, my rheumatologist already has me on the waiting list for an MRI.
I asked if I could still work, and she advised me to wear a brace for the next 3-6 weeks and use crutches when the pain becomes too much. I didn’t ask for any painkillers since I still have some that are effective, and I prefer not to take medication unless absolutely necessary.

So, that’s the story of how I damaged my ankle by slipping on an ice cube. Have you ever injured yourself in a ridiculous way? If so, share your stories in the comments!
