Dealing with Procrastination

So currently, I am at the end of the semester. Meaning, exams, finals, essays, projects, presentations etc.

Half the time I am struggling from procrastination. I get so overwhelmed that I end up not doing anything because I have no idea how to deal with procrastination.

Now. It has taken me a lot of time. BUT I have found a way that HELPS me.

I am going to share it with all of you, in case you need ideas to help with procrastination.

So. I make daily checklists.

It prioritizes what I need to do in a day.

So for example my main things that I need to do;

Date 1: 

  • School at _____ to ____
  • Work at _____ to ____
  • Skating at ____ to ____
  • Doctors appointment at _____ to_____

Now under that I will add the secondary things I need to do during the day.

Date 1 CONT: 

  • Make Bed
  • Clean room
  • Homework
  • Write blog post 1
  • Clean car
  • Essay write 1-2 pages
  • Go to the Gym
  • Coffee date with ___

 

Also, I also use lists for when I have to pack and go somewhere.

Skating Competition:

  • Skates
  • Guards
  • Dress
  • Tights
  • Second Outfit
  • Warm-up Sweater
  • Clothes
  • Snack
  • Water Bottle
  • Phone
  • Phone Charger
  • Music
  • Element Sheet

Or the basic packing list;

  • Underwear
  • Socks
  • Bra (females)
  • Pants
  • Shirts
  • Nice outfit
  • etc…

Even for essays, I make a checklist to make sure everything is in the essay.

So example:

  • Thesis
  • Title
  • Source 1
  • Source 2
  • Source 3
  • Intro
  • Middle
  • Conclusion
  • Title Page
  • MLA/Source

When I have that list done. Usually my essays are more concrete then when I don’t and I get higher marks.

Now. It does feel good to get the list done.

However, if you have nothing to work for. The list idea does not work.

So I make the reward system for the daily check list.

If I finish a list (Which honestly is VERY RARE sometimes one every week or two), I treat myself to Rockaberry. 

You can chose anything for the treat.

So now that I just crossed off “Blog Post” off my list to help me with procrastination. I actually have to stop procrastinating and go and finish my essay that is due tomorrow.
